Ways to protect your WhatsApp account if lost your phone
As smartphones can do many things, it is important to keep them safe. This is because they contain vital information like personal data and financial details as well.
Besides, the applications installed on your device also contain a lot of information. WhatsApp is one of the most widely used applications. So, protect your WhatsApp account and the information if you lose your mobile phone.
Here are the ways to protect your WhatsApp account:
Lock your SIM card immediately after losing your mobile phone. Call your mobile network provider and block your SIM to avoid its misuse.
After getting a new SIM card, activate your WhatsApp on the new device with the same phone number. It helps deactivate your WhatsApp account on your lost or stolen device.
Also, send an email to WhatsApp informing you that you have lost your mobile phone. Hence, you need a deactivation of your account on the lost device. While mailing them, mention your phone number by adding your country code so that it will be easier for them to contact you in case of any need.
After activating your WhatsApp account on a new device, restore chat backup from Google Drive or OneDrive. However, remember that you must enable a backup option to save the chats and other information. For getting back up link your new device to your Google Account where the backup is saved.
You cannot delete your WhatsApp account completely even after deactivating your account. Your contacts can still see your profile picture. In addition to that, they can send messages to your WhatsApp account. These messages will remain pending for up to 30 days.
You must reactivate your WhatsApp account within 30 days to receive these messages. Also, note that you may not exit from WhatsApp group chats even after you delete your WhatsApp account.
