The 16th edition of World Sanskrit Conference will be organized in Bangkok starting from June 28th and concluding on July 2nd. The event will be attended by Union Ministers Sushma Swaraj and Smriti Irani.
According to officials, there have been demands from a section of viewers who wanted a news program in Sanskrit. Since, DD News is the public broadcaster; it wants to cater to this demand from the viewers and is set to launch the program to attract the particular section of viewers.
Currently, there is a five minute Sanskrit news bulletin titled ‘Vartha’. The special bulletin is telecasted every day at 6:55pm. However, the decision was made that the five minute bulletin was not enough. Hence, the 30 minute program was authorized.
The upcoming program will consist of news, reportage, features and discussions in Sanskrit. DD will make decision regarding future plan of action based on the response received about the show.
