Symptoms of Omicron variant
The number of COVID- cases have been rising in the country. The cases infected with the Omicron variant are also significant among them.
The following symptoms are usually reported by people infected with the Omicron variant.
Common symptoms of Omicron are body ache, fatigue, headache, and fever. However, after a few days, some patients might develop a dry cough along with a runny nose, sneezing etc.
While the fever resolves after three days in 80% of patients, cough resolves after a few days in patients with mild infection. On the other hand, if an individual has moderate to severe infection, the symptoms may not resolve. They need careful monitoring of the symptoms.
If anybody experiences the above symptoms, they shall isolate themselves to prevent the spread of Omicron to their family members and others.
Doctors say that isolating themselves at the right time helps control the transmission of infection from an infected person to other people.
As the Omicron variant is more contagious than other variants of COVID-19, doctors recommend wearing an N95 mask in public places.
Body ache, cough, fatigue, congestion, and runny nose are the five most common symptoms of Omicron as per the analysis of US CDC. Some UK studies also noted nausea and loss of appetite in patients infected with Omicron.
Though the symptoms vary from region to region, the most common symptoms of Omicron, as per many researchers, are fever, cough, fatigue and loss of smell or taste. The serious symptoms of Omicron include loss of speech or mobility, shortness of breath, and chest pain.
Some other people also reported night sweats and body aches. Hence, doctors warn to be alert if anyone experiences body pain, which may be a sign of infection.
Sore throat, headache, diarrhoea, pains, rash on the skin, and irritated eyes are less common symptoms of Omicron.
