India’s longest non-stop train journey
Indian Railways has made significant strides in recent years, enhancing stations, electrifying tracks, and introducing high-speed trains.
As one of the largest rail networks globally, it operates over 13,000 trains daily, connecting cities across India efficiently.
Among the many trains, one stands out for its exceptional non-stop journey: The Mumbai Central–Hapa Duronto Express holds the record for the longest non-stop rail journey in India.
It covers an impressive distance of 493 km without stopping. This train is known for its efficiency and speed.
It offers passengers a fast and smooth travel experience, setting a new standard for long-distance, non-stop rail travel in India.
The Mumbai Central–Hapa Duronto Express departs from Mumbai at 11 PM and reaches Ahmedabad at 4:50 AM, completing the 493 km journey in just 5 hours and 50 minutes.
This non-stop stretch makes it one of the fastest trains on the route. After Ahmedabad, the train continues toward Hapa, making only three stops throughout the entire journey. This ensures a quick and efficient travel experience for passengers.
Prior to this, the record for the longest non-stop journey was held by the Trivandrum-Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express.
This train covers 2,845 km between Delhi and Trivandrum, taking around 42 hours. The Rajdhani Express had previously travelled 528 km without a stop between Kota and Vadodara, but a halt was added at Ratlam, reducing the non-stop stretch to 258 km.
Indian Railways is continuously improving its infrastructure, speed, and efficiency, setting new standards for long-distance travel.
The Mumbai-Hapa Duronto Express is a prime example of these advancements, providing faster, uninterrupted journeys for passengers.
As technology progresses, more trains will likely surpass this record, further enhancing connectivity and convenience for travellers across the country.
The future of Indian Railways looks promising, with more records set to be broken in the years to come.
