How to enable Beta version of WhatsApp Dark mode feature
The beta version of Dark mode feature of WhatsApp has been in testing for more than a year on both Android and iOS smartphones. However, no update has been available on this feature at present.
But, it is expected that the feature may be rolled out across the globe soon.
In order to use the dark mode feature in Android Beta version, download the APK of the latest 2.20.13 version. For iOS, you should have the updated version of 2.20.30 via its Test Program.
Here are the steps to be followed to enable WhatsApp dark mode feature on Android:
- First, download the latestWhatsApp for Android Beta version.
- Then open the app and go to ‘Settings’.
- Tap on Chats and then on ‘Display’.
- There you will find the Theme and you can choose Dark Theme to enable dark mode feature on WhatsApp.
- Many new theme options are also available under Chats. Some of them are Light Theme, Set By Battery Saver etc.
- Besides, there is also a System Default option for the smartphones that use the latest Android 10 OS.
If you are using Android 9 OS or lower, then the Dark mode theme is not available for your smartphone. You can use Light Theme which is normally used.
If you use Set By Battery Save option, then your phone will be switched to light or dark theme as per your battery saver settings.
Here are the steps to be followed to activate WhatsApp dark mode feature on iOS:
- Update WhatsApp beta to version 2.20.30.25 via TestFlight.
- Then restart your phone.
- After that, you will find a dark WhatsApp splash screen.
In addition to that, WhatsApp is going to bring the dark mode theme for its desktop as well as web platforms.
To use the dark mode theme on WhatsApp web, you can download and install Stylus, an extension for Google Chrome and Firefox. But make sure that you have the latest version of these web browsers.
