Shaik Muzammil Pasha bags Ignite Award
Shaik Muzammil Pasha is a 12-year old and a seventh-class student from Hyderabad. He bagged Ignite award 2014 for making modifications to shoe that help alleviate knee pains. He received this award in November this year in IIM Ahmedabad by former President of India, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam.
Generally the weight of obese people results in knee pains as their entire weight falls on their knees. Muzammil modified the regular heel to correct its gravity line. He added extra leather at the filling of the arch, strips and back shield. This design improves comfort to the wearers and aids in reducing their knee pain.
It took nearly one year to design these shoes. Initially he started experimenting with wooden and metal plates. Later he used leather to modify the shoe design. He stated that designing of shoe heel varies with each person as per one’s own requirement.
Muzammil designed an electromagnetic radiation shield from various metal as well. It helps in reducing the radiations from mobile phone up to 80 percent when it was embedded in them. He presented his model at the 22nd National Children’s Science Congress 2014 and it was selected for the national event which is going to be held in this month.
His father is working in Osmania University as an Assistant Professor. He supported the enthusiasm of his son despite his busy schedule. He wanted his son to be a scientist in future.
