Hyderabad startup offers mineral water boxes
The plastic menace has several adverse impacts on the environment. In this scenario, many startups are researching to bring innovative products to reduce plastic waste.
This Hyderabad startup, Caro Water, is one of them. It offers mineral water boxes. Suneeth Tatineni and Chaitanya Ayinapudi are the founders of the startup. They quit corporate jobs to launch a sustainable and eco-friendly product in the market.
The duo observed the usage of plastic water bottles for several years. These water bottles end up in landfills, which pose a threat to the environment.
Besides, most of the water bottles available in the market contain tap water, but people are choosing them under the impression of mineral water. The duo says that they also observed that many water cans are unhygienic. Hence, they are doubtful about the water in these cans.
The duo brainstormed to bring an alternative to plastic water bottles and decided to bring water boxes into the market. That’s how Caro Water was born. It is a unique water box that reduces the usage of plastic up to 80 per cent.
Caro Water offers packaged water boxes in three variants – 5 litres, 10 litres and 20 litres. The cost depends on the size of the water box.
The duo assures clean and safe drinking water with added minerals in the boxes.
The water is filtered for the elimination of all impurities and toxic materials from it. It is then enriched with minerals that are lost during the filtration process. The startup also recycles the boxes that are used for packing water. Users can hand over the packs to delivery boys for recycling.
The startup sold more than 8,000 packs during the first two quarters of 2021. It mainly focused on hospitals and hotels where the usage of plastic bottles is more.
