Dukaan App empowers small town shopkeepers | Fusion - WeRIndia

Due to unexpected nationwide lockdown, many small shopkeepers faced difficulties as they were forced to close their shops.

Besides, they do not have any idea on online selling; hence they could not generate as much revenue as they were able to in the past.

As per the reports, more than 7 lakh Kirana shops and small shops had to close their shops due to lack of customers or lack of access to godowns to procure new stocks. Some of the shopkeepers had to relocate to their hometowns.

To avoid such situation in future and to help them sustain in the market in the adverse conditions, Suumit Shah, a resident of Satara, Maharashtra launched Dukaan app.

Suumit Shah worked in his uncle’s clothing store after completing his 12th standard. At that time, he learned about all the struggles that a small business can go through. Lack of technical knowledge affects the business further due to the limited reach of customers and marketing.

Then he completed online courses in marketing and website designing. He launched Rankz.io in 2018. This Bengaluru-based startup is a digital marketing and advertising agency.

He noticed that several small shops had closed in the lockdown period. One day, when he contacted a Jockey outlet in Bengaluru, the store sent a message saying that they were accepting orders through WhatsApp and deliver orders to the homes of customers.

Then the idea of launching Dukaan app came to his mind to help small shopkeepers across the country.

Then, he developed the Dukaan app along with his team and launched the prototype in mid-May. He updated the app based on the feedback of customers.

The app helps shopkeepers launch their online store within 30 seconds by entering their business name and address. They can add products or catalogues to their online store.

They will get a notification for every new order received from a new customer along with their address and mobile number. Delivery can be easily done accordingly.

Dukaan app is useful for grocery shops, electronic shops, hotels, fruits and vegetable stores, and clothes, jewellery and furniture stores.

Dukaan app has been downloaded for over 5,00,000 times. More than 4,00,000 stores have registered with it.
