With the alarming effects of plastic use on human health, many people try to avoid it as much as possible if they find alternatives.

Plastic bottles became part of human lives in these days with their convenient carry facility and use. However, normal plastic bottles cannot keep the water cool for a long time.

Several people are using them even though they do not want to use as they do not have an option. In this scenario, a new type of water bottle came into picture. They are clay water bottles.

Using clay is not a new idea. Pottery is one of the most notable milestones in human civilization. Before the entry of refrigerators, people used pots in their homes for cool water. But, now their usage has been reduced in almost all cities and towns.

People use cool refrigerated water in plastic bottles. But, health experts suggest that reducing the use of plastic is essential to keep away from several diseases.

In this situation, Pramod Siddagangaiah from Tumkur designed clay bottles.

These Apah earthenware water bottles are made of clay. The interesting part is these bottles are light weight to carry and keep the water cool for a long time.

To make these water bottles, Pramod researched various methods so that the bottles are easy to carry with their portability and lightweight.

These handmade bottles use the natural process of evaporation cooling to keep the water cool.

The word ‘Apah’ means Goddess of water in Sanskrit, so the name was chosen, says Promod.

Since clay products are easily breakable, these bottles come with a lid and a separate clay container so that the lid can be retained even if the bottle is broken.

The cost of Apah bottle is ₹399. If you want to buy both the container and lid separately, then it is ₹210 and ₹189 respectively for the clay container and the lid.
