ASEAN leaders to grace R-Day Parade - Fusion - WeRIndia

Republic Day is celebrated on January 26 each year with joy and patriotism by Indians. Republic Day Parade in Delhi is the largest parade in India which is held in Rajpath, New Delhi. It lasts for three days. It is the main attraction of the Republic Day celebrations of the country.

This year, it will be more attractive as various ASEAN leaders are attending the event to grace the occasion.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Mann Ki Baat’ on December 31 said that this year’s Republic Day celebrations would be historic in the entire country; great leaders from ten Asian countries will be attending the celebrations.

Here is a list of the great leaders of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries who will visit on India’s Republic Day Parade.

Sources state that each leader will arrive in a separate convoy to be received by the PM of India.

Malaysian Prime Minister Mohammed Najib Razak is one of the chief guests on the R-Day. He is the President of the United Malays National Organisation.

Singapore PM Lee Hsien Loong is another chief guest. He shares a good rapport with PM Modi. He is also expected to grace the R-day parade on January 26. Another guest is Indonesian President Joko Widodo.  He will be one of the guests of honour in the R-Day Parade.

Aung San Suu Kyi, Myanmar’s incumbent State Counsellor, a position akin to a Prime Minister will be another guest at the R-Day celebrations.

Cambodia’s Prime Minister Hun Sen will also attend Republic Day event at Rajpath.

Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, the Sultan of Brunei, Nguyễn Xuân Phúc, Vietanam’s Prime Minister, Thongloun Sisoulith, Prime Minister of Laos, Prayuth Chan-ocha, Thailand’s Prime Minister and President Rodrigo Roa Duterte of Philippines will be other guests at India’s Republic Day celebrations.
