Tourists prefer South Indian cities

Several Indian and international tourists are preferring to visit south Indian cities rather than north Indian cities.

As per the report of Times of India, south Indian cities like Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai and Kochi attracted more people in the first half of 2019.

The report is based on the travel bookings made by tourists for their travel between January 1 and June 30, 2019.

The report revealed that north Indian cities like Amritsar and Agra have been replaced by Coimbatore.

Moreover, tourists prefer off-beat locations that are not overcrowded.

There are many reasons for the increasing popularity of south Indian cities in tourists:

The first and foremost reason is the safety of the tourists. Several people believe that south Indian cities are safer than north Indian cities and the facts proved it.

The report of Crime In India – 2016 published by the National Crime Records Bureau showed that Andhra Pradesh has the lowest crime rates in the country. Karnataka followed it. The remaining south Indian states also proved to be safer than most north Indian states.

Except Kerala, none of the south Indian states was listed in the top 10 states that have a higher violent crime ratio. However, due to its enormous beauty, many tourists are exploring the state.

Pollution is the next reason for most tourists to prefer south Indian cities. The report of the World Health Organisation says that out of 15 top most polluted cities in the world, 14 are in India.

Kanpur topped the list while the remaining cities are Faridabad, Varanasi, Gaya, Patna, Delhi, Lucknow, Agra, Muzaffarpur, Srinagar, Gurgaon, Jaipur, Patiala and Jodhpur

None of the south Indian cities is in the list.

There are many interesting and unexplored places in south India and that’s why several tourists are opting for these places.
