Rice Bucket Challenge goes Viral in India
The Ice Bucket challenge which was meant for charity regarding ALS is one of the most viral trends in the world at present. This prompted Indian journalist ManjuLathaKalanidhi to start a new trend for the sake of charity. ManjuLatha who works for the U.S. based rice research website Oryza.com has started a new challenge called the Rice Bucket Challenge. This challenge is becoming viral in India. The challenge is spreading on TV news, Twitter, and it has a Facebook page with thousands of likes.
ManjuLatha has been receiving responses from all over the world. She has received praise from several countries like Sweden, England etc.
The challenge is that one has to cook or buy a bucket of rice for someone in need. It’s very simple just like the ice bucket challenge. The people participating should use the hashtag #RiceBucketChallenge and encourage their friends to spread it.
The increasing trend of Rice Bucket challenge shows the increasing amount of influence social media has in India at present. It is expected by experts that the number of internet users in India will continue to increase. The trend of Rice Bucket challenge is growing very fast. It is evident from the Facebook page of the challenge which has gained 4000 likes on the first day of creation
