Goa minister defends remarks of wife’s western culture rape link
Pandurang ‘Deepak’ Davalikar, a cabinet minister in the BJP led state government has supported to the remarks made by his wife Lata Dhavalikar that the influence of western culture has increased rapes.
Furthermore the remark has called upon Hindus to not send their children to convent schools. His statement supporting his wife is “If Hindu dharma has to survive then someone has to take responsibility and create awareness about Hindu culture and my wife is doing the right thing.”
This is not the first time the Dhavalikars’ (two brothers who are ministers and BJP’ senior leaders) remarks have sparked controversy. A demand on the ban on bikinis on Goa’s beaches has been made by PWD minister Ramkrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhavalikar. On the other hand, Deepak, minister of craftsmen training and factories and boilers has stated that India would be a Hindu rashtra with the leadership of PM Narendra Modi.
He has further questioned what is wrong with the statement made by his wife. He added that “In the past, rape cases were less because they (women) adhered by Hindu dharma and now such cases are on the rise because of western style of living.”
Despite the several times controversies have been raised due to statement like this, they haven’t stopped.
