Erotic temples of India

Many people today would rather not talk about sex or discuss it in any form especially in public. However, India’s ancient culture seems to be more open minded about sex. This is quite evident from the erotic sculptures in India. Here are some of the most famous temples with erotic sculptures on their architecture.

Markandeshwar, Maharashtra

This is a temple of Shiva. The ancient lore is that it was created in one night by a demon who worshipped Lord Shiva. It is believed that the sexual carvings on the walls outside are done by demons.

Virupaksha, Hampi

Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh
