If you are a smartphone user and living in Greater Noida, then installing Aarogya Setu is mandatory.
The government issued new orders and made it mandatory for all smartphone users to have Aarogya Setu app on their phones, failing which leads to penalties and punishment.
The smartphone users who do not have Aarogya Setu app on their mobile phones will be treated as violators of the lockdown directions for which they will be punished.
Earlier, the Indian government made the installation of this app mandatory for all public sector and government employees, and for all private employees who travel to their offices.
Installing Aarogya Setu app is essential for contact tracing as per the government. While extending the lockdown for two more weeks till May 17, the government issued a directive on installing Aarogya Setu on the smartphones of public and private employees.
All these employees should have to download it as per the order. It is the responsibility of the employer and the respective heads of organization to make sure all their employees install this app.
Besides, all residents of an identified COVID-19 containment zone will also have to install this app on their smartphone.
Initially, the app was made mandatory for only central government employees to ensure whether it was safe or low risk while they were commuting to the office.
But, now the government made it mandatory for all the government and private employees.
The government also urged smartphone manufacturers to pre-install Aarogya Setu app to ensure all new smartphone buyers will have this app on their phone.
Furthermore, the government is also planning to start a similar initiative for feature phones. It wants to work with various telecom carriers including Airtel, Vodafone, Reliance Jio etc. to check their subscribers for COVID-19 symptoms so that the government can reach the people.
