108-foot Vishwaroopa: Bengaluru’s new spiritual landmark
A new spiritual landmark has reshaped Bengaluru’s religious landscape with the unveiling of a colossal 108-foot Maha Vishnu Vishwaroopa statue at the Sri Kodanda Rama Swamy Temple in Ejipura.
The monumental installation blends devotion, artistry, and scale, instantly drawing the attention of devotees, pilgrims, and visitors from across the country.
Carved from a single massive stone, the statue presents Lord Vishnu in his Vishwaroopa, or universal form, as described in the Bhagavad Gita.
At 108 feet, it ranks among the tallest Vishnu statues in South India. The structure reflects centuries-old traditions of Indian temple architecture while showcasing remarkable precision and craftsmanship.
Its height is not merely architectural but symbolic, as the number 108 holds deep spiritual importance in Hindu philosophy, representing wholeness and cosmic balance.
The statue stands within the premises of the Kodanda Rama Swamy Temple, a well-known place of worship in Ejipura.
Traditionally associated with devotion to Lord Rama, the temple has now gained wider recognition with the addition of this massive Vishnu form.
Located in a central part of Bengaluru, the site is easily accessible, making it convenient for both daily worshippers and long-distance pilgrims.
The unveiling is being viewed as a major cultural and spiritual milestone for the city. It reinforces the revival of classical Vedic imagery by portraying the cosmic form of Lord Vishnu on an extraordinary scale.
At the same time, it highlights the seamless fusion of ancient religious concepts with modern engineering capabilities. The statue is expected to play a key role in promoting spiritual tourism in Karnataka.
Temple authorities envision the site evolving into a prominent pilgrimage destination in the coming years.
With its striking visual presence and deep symbolic meaning, the Vishwaroopa statue has already begun to transform the temple into a centre of devotion and admiration.
As more visitors arrive, the landmark is likely to place Bengaluru firmly on India’s spiritual tourism map, alongside celebrated religious centres such as Tirupati and Udupi.
