Unlock in various states of India

As the number of COVID-19 cases has been decreasing for the past few days, many states and Union Territories started easing lockdown restrictions.

While the lockdown continues in few Southern and Northeast states, several states are easing restrictions.

Here is a list of states that offer relaxations to citizens:

In Delhi, markets, malls and offices reopened on June 7. The Metro services also resumed with a 50 per cent seating capacity.


In Maharashtra, the unlock process began on June 7. The state government decided to ease restrictions in five levels. Restaurants and shops reopened in Mumbai, but with some restrictions. However, theatres and multiplexes will remain closed.

In Punjab, restaurants and other eateries reopened. The state government also allowed cinema halls and gyms to reopen with a 50 per cent capacity. The number of guests to attend events like weddings and cremations has been increased to 50 people.

The Haryana state government also allowed restaurants, malls, shops, bars, and religious places to reopen with certain restrictions.

In Rajasthan, restaurants, malls, gyms, and sports complexes reopened for certain hours. The state government also permitted monuments, art and cultural places to reopen.

Bihar government also decided to ease restrictions from June 16. Both government and private offices can function with their full strength till 5:00 p.m. Also, shops are allowed to open till 6:00 p.m.

In West Bengal, restaurants and bars are allowed to open with a 50 per cent capacity from 12 noon to 8:00 p.m. Both government and private offices can function with a 25 per cent capacity starting from June 16.

In Kerala, government offices are allowed to function with a 50 per cent workforce from June 17. COVID-19 restrictions will be in force as per the region. They will be implemented by local bodies.
