Taj Mahal to get free Wi-Fi
In order to increase the tourist experience at the World Wonder site, Taj Mahal, free Wi-Fi will be provided to tourists there. People will be able to get 30 minutes of free Wi-Fi access starting from June 16th.
Browsing or downloading, surfing after the first 30 minutes would invite charges at Rs.thirty an hour.
The service was launched by Union telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on June 16. Prasad stated that while the bandwidth is being provided by state-run BSNL, the system integrator. Quadgen, a Bengaluru-based company, is providing the wireless back-up.
The archaeological Survey of India, however, has allowed the Wi-Fi availabilities in a radius of thirty metres from the main entrance of the mausoleum, official sources stated.
The authorities took the step when tourists, notably the foreigners, complained concerning the shortage of Wi-Fi facility within the Taj Mahal premises.
Innumerable tourists from across the country and abroad visit the white marble mausoleum, built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan for his beloved spouse Mumtaz Mahal within the seventeenth century, every year.
Currently, Wi-Fi internet facility is presently accessible solely at the Agra cantonment railway station.
BSNL is planning to add this facility to Fatehpur Sikri furthermore if its plan in Taj Mahal succeeds.
