Yesterday Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the 52nd edition of Mann Ki Baat. This was his first Mann Ki Baat in this year.

Modi addressed the nation in his radio speech and spoke on various topics.

PM remembered late Sidaganga Mutt Seer Shivakumar Swami in his speech. He also paid tributes to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and other unsung heroes of India’s freedom struggle.

He also spoke on various museums that have been launched by him in the last week at Red Fort.


As the Lok Sabha elections are approaching in the coming months, Modi urged the eligible youth to register themselves as voters to cast their vote.

He also applauded the efforts of Election Commission of India (ECI) in strengthening the democracy. He also reminded the National Voters’ Day which is celebrated on January 25 each year.

In his speech, PM also talked about Shining Toilet Contest.

Shining Toilet Contest or Clean Beautiful Toilet Contest is a unique contest in which people from throughout the country can participate and share the photos of their toilets.

Modi appealed to all the village heads and Sarpanchs to take lead in this campaign in their represented areas.

Those want to participate in the contest should get their toilets painted or renovated as the main requisite is a clean and colorful toilet.

People from all over the country from Kanyakumari to Kutch are participating in the contest, so there is no need for a person to belong to a specific region.

More than 50 lakh toilets have participated in this contest since the past one month.

Photos of clean, renovated and colorful toilets have been rounding the social media.

Several people are sharing their beautiful toilets on social media with the hashtag, #MylzzatGhar.

PM asked all people to share photos on social media and participate in this unique contest.

He added that the country is moving towards open defecation free status before October 2, 2019, the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, and clean India is a great tribute to Gandhiji.
