Private vehicles without a high-security plate need to pay fine in Noida | Fusion - WeRIndia

Noida Authorities decided to levy fine on private vehicles plying without a high-security registration plate (HSRP) from February 16.

The central government introduced the HSRP in 2018 and made it mandatory for all commercial and non-commercial vehicles. The rule applies to all vehicles manufactured or registered after April 1, 2019. The government gave some time for the vehicles to have the HSRP. And the last date was February 15.

As the period given for installing the HSRP has ended, the traffic police in Noida started levying a fine of ₹5,000 on vehicles plying without the HSRP on Noida roads.

It is an offence under the Motor Vehicle Act.  In addition, there were many such instances where such vehicles had been involved in criminal activities. So, vehicle owners must adhere to the guidelines specified as per the law.

Hence, authorities decided to levy fine on vehicles without having the HSRP. They also decided to enforce the rule to make sure that all vehicles would have the HSRP.

The Noida police said that the challan campaign would begin today. The Gautam Buddh Nagar Traffic police and the local police will start taking action against these vehicles.

The Police said that vehicle owners who do not have a high-security registration plate must install it on their vehicles immediately. Otherwise, they would be held liable for having a faulty number plate. They need to pay a fine of ₹5,000 for plying on roads without having a high-security registration plate.

The officials of Gautam Buddh Nagar transport department say that nearly 6 lakh registered vehicles have the HSRP of a total of 8.70 lakh vehicles registered in the area. The drive would focus on the remaining vehicles that do not have the HSRP so that all of them will have it.
