President launches Sanchar Kranti Yojana

In order to ensure the reach of smartphones to poor people the Chhattisgarh’s government introduced a new scheme.

The scheme, Sanchar Kranti Yojana was launched by President Ram Nath Kovind here yesterday. After launching the scheme, two beneficiaries and a college student were distributed smartphones formally.

On an average, 50 lakh people across the state will get smartphones under this scheme.

The President stated that the scheme makes sure the constant developmental activities reach new heights here.


In the wake of Assembly elections in the last months of this year, the government will distribute smartphones to the poor people in the coming two months.

Out of 50 lakh people who would get smartphones, 45 lakh are women who belong to poor people and the remaining five lakh are college students.

The beneficiaries will be updated about different government welfare schemes of both the state and central government through an application ‘Goth’ which means ‘to talk’ in a local language.

In addition to that, they will also get information on schemes related to agriculture, education, skill development, employment and self-help groups.

The distribution of smartphones will be done in two phases. In the first phase beneficiaries of urban areas will be distributed with phones from July 30 to August 16.

And in the second phase, rural people will be distributed from August 17 to September 22.

The President also dedicated a new hospital to the nation. It is located near Jagdalpur.

The new building of Late Baliram Kashyap Memorial Medical College hospital has a capacity of 500 beds with 376 paramedical staff and 75 specialist doctors.

This hospital will be helpful to citizens as they have to take injured persons to the hospital in Raipur, which is almost 300 km away, to get a good treatment.
