Chhattisgarh declares Dry Day for Ram Mandir consecration ceremony

As India eagerly anticipates one of the most significant events of the year, the Consecration Ceremony of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir, scheduled for January 22, 2024, takes centre stage.

This monumental occasion is set to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other dignitaries, drawing attention not only for its religious importance but also for its impact on state policies.

In response to the grand ceremony, the Chhattisgarh government has made a noteworthy announcement.

Chhattisgarh will observe a Dry Day on January 22, 2024, in celebration of the consecration of Shri Ram Lalla at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya.

CM Sai emphasized the significance of Chhattisgarh as the maternal birthplace of Lord Ram, fostering a sense of pride and enthusiasm across the state.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai conveyed that it is their fortune that Chhattisgarh is the maternal birthplace of Lord Ram. The state is fortunate to have the consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22.

He said that lamps would be lit in homes on that day, like Diwali. In this context, the Chhattisgarh government decided to declare January 22 as a dry day in the state.

The consecration ceremony in Ayodhya is not just a one-day affair; it marks the culmination of week-long celebrations commencing on January 16.

Vedic rituals conducted by priest Lakshmi Kant Dixit will lead up to the main event, with a 1008 Hundi Mahayagya organized to feed thousands of devotees.

Ayodhya is gearing up to accommodate the influx of worshippers, with tent cities being set up to host 10,000-15,000 people, as per the arrangements made by the Sri Ram Janambhoomi Trust.

As the nation prepares to witness the historic consecration, Chhattisgarh’s Dry Day declaration adds a unique touch to the festivities, aligning state policies with the spiritual significance of the occasion.

The grandeur of Ayodhya’s celebrations promises to be a momentous spectacle, symbolizing unity and devotion.
