The biggest vaccination drive to fight against COVID-19 will begin tomorrow. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the drive.

PM Modi will interact with a few healthcare workers from all over the country after launching the drive through a video link. The list of beneficiaries who will interact with the PM has been shortlisted. The centres from where the beneficiaries will interact with the PM were advised to make necessary arrangements for it.

There are 2,934 inoculation sites where nearly three lakh healthcare workers will get vaccines on the first day of the biggest vaccination drive across the country. Each session will serve to a maximum of 100 beneficiaries.

PM Modi will also launch the Co-WIN app to monitor the vaccine delivery and distribution across the country.

As per the guidelines, the healthcare workers include not just doctors and nurses, but others like ambulance drivers, nursing orderlies, safai karamcharis etc. They also include a mix of different age groups along with people aged above 50 years.

In the initial phase of inoculation, the government procured 1.65 crore doses of vaccines. These include both Covishield and Covaxin vaccines. The central government allocated these vaccines to all states and union territories in the ratio of their health workers of the database without any discrimination.

Hence, the Health Ministry said that no question of discrimination arises. Moreover, there wouldn’t be any deficiency as the vaccine doses were allocated as per the ratio of healthcare workers in the database.

The Ministry advised states and UTs to consider 10 per cent reserve doses per session per day with a maximum of 100 vaccinations. It also advised them to increase the number of vaccination session sites gradually for a stabilized process.
