Piyush Goyal: Will make Delhi's power situation equal to Mumbai's | Fusion - WeRIndia

Piyush Goyal, minister of state for power and renewable energy has stated that the marine drive in Mumbai which is filled with LED lights looks like a Queen’s necklace now. The installation of LED lights was part of Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) to reduce electricity costs.

After this, Goyal who himself was a mumbaikar has made plans to address the power problems in the capital of India. He promised that he will turn Delhi into Mumbai in terms of power. He stated that this will be a Mumbaikar’s gift to Delhi so that Delhi people do not have to buy inverters and generators.

Goyal also stated that he has country wide plans which are aimed at ensuring “power to all”. He stated that the government’s plans include a chain of solar panels which will begin in Delhi. The street lights will be changed to LED lights which are more expensive but last longer than traditional CFLs. The government is also planning smart metres to enable customers to find out their electricity usage through mobile phones.
