New Smart LPG Composite Cylinders
A new type of LPG cylinder, the Composite cylinder is introduced in the market by the oil companies. These smart cooking gas cylinders enable users to know the quantity of gas in the cylinder.
Recently the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) launched composite cylinders for their customers to let them know how much gas is remained in the cylinder.
The composite cylinder has three layers. Both the inner and outer layers are made up of High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE). There will be a composite layer of polymer-wrapped fibreglass between these two layers.
Composite cylinders are lightweight. They weigh 5kg and 10kg. Besides, they are transparent to allow the consumers to see the amount of gas left in the cylinder. Hence customers can easily check the LPG level in the cylinder and plan to refill them accordingly.
The LPG composite cylinder is rust-free and does not damage. Hence, it does not leave marks and stains on surfaces.
At present, LPG composite cylinders are available in 28 cities across the country. Some of them are Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Varanasi, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, and Sangrur. The IOLC is planning to supply the cylinder in other cities also soon.
Consumers need to pay a security deposit to get the composite cylinder. It is ₹3,350 for a 10 kg LPG composite cylinder and ₹2,150 for a 5 kg cylinder.
Users can also replace their old steel cylinder with this composite cylinder. The security amount already paid on their existing cylinder can be reduced from the security deposit of a composite cylinder. Users need to pay the balance amount to get the new cylinder.
For instance, if you have a security deposit of ₹2,000 on your old gas cylinder, you will have to pay ₹1,350 to get the new composite cylinder of 10 kg. If you want to buy a 5kg cylinder, then you need to pay only ₹150.
