New guidelines for passengers to travel in trains
Indian Railways is going to start operating passenger trains nearly after two months. The passenger trains start their operations from today.
In the first phase, 15 trains will start operating from New Delhi to various places including Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Secunderabad, Thiruvananthapuram etc.
These trains will have only AC coaches including 1 AC, 2 AC and 3 AC class and the fare is similar to that of premium Rajdhani trains.
These trains will run with almost full capacity and stop at all major stations.
The Railways issued a new set of guidelines for passengers who want to travel in these trains:
- Passengers will be issued only online tickets and no counter tickets will be sold at the counters.
- Only those with a valid confirmed ticket will be allowed to enter the station. And the driver of the vehicle who transports them will also be allowed based on the confirmed e-ticket.
- Passengers will have to reach stations at least 90 minutes before departure for screening.
- They have to wear masks. Those who do not have face covers or masks will be stopped at the entry. This face cover is mandatory during their journey as well.
- They will be provided with hand sanitizers at entry and exit points as well as in coaches.
- Only people who do not have symptoms will be allowed for the journey.
- They will have to maintain social distancing during their journey.
- Passengers will not be provided with blankets and linen. Only packaged food will be made available to them on payment on board.
- They will have to download and use the Aarogya Setu application.
- They will have to adhere to all health protocols prescribed by the destination state or UT.
- Online cancellation is allowed up to 24 hours before the scheduled departure of a train.
- However, Railways charge 50 per cent as a cancellation charge.
