IRCTC’s new rule for online ticket booking
If you do not buy a ticket for a long time using the IRCTC website, then you will have to verify your email ID and mobile number. Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) announced this new rule. As per this rule, those who have not booked or bought tickets online for a long time will have to verify their mobile number and email.
Passengers can buy or book tickets only after verification. The verification process will take around a minute.
Several passengers did not use the IRCTC portal due to the pandemic. Hence, they have to follow this verification process first to buy tickets on the IRCTC website.
Those who have bought tickets regularly using the portal need not follow this rule. They can book tickets as usual.
To book tickets, passengers create a login and password. For this, they need a verified phone number and email ID. That’s why passengers who have not used the portal need to verify them again.
The verification process is simple and easy. A verification window opens after you log into the portal. You can enter your mobile number and email ID with which you have already registered. If you want to edit them, you can do so. You will find the edit option on the left side and the verification option on the right side.
If you want to change your mobile number or email, select the edit option. Enter your phone number and email ID.
Then, you have to verify them by clicking the verification option. An OTP will be sent to your mobile number and email. By entering the OTP received on your mobile, you can verify your mobile number. Similarly, enter the OTP received on the email to verify your email ID. All this process can be finished within a minute. After that, you can book tickets on the portal.
