Coronavirus confirmed in Kerala | Fusion - WeRIndia

The first positive case of novel coronavirus has been reported in Kerala. A student who was studying at Wuhan University in China has been tested and identified with positive of 2019-nCoV.

He is under constant and close observation. The aviation ministry asked airport authorities to screen travellers flying in from China to control the outbreak of coronavirus.

Hence, some airports set up thermal scanners at immigration counters. However, many airports in the country still do not have thermal screening installed.

As per the health officials, there are around 806 people who returned from China in the last few days who have been kept under observation in Kerala to detect probable exposure to coronavirus.

Out of them, 173 arrived in Kerala on Wednesday. 10 among them are kept under observation in isolation wards at many hospitals throughout the state.

The remaining are kept under home quarantine. Health Minister KK Shylaja asked those travellers who returned from China over the past few days to avoid travelling to other places. They are advised to keep themselves under self-quarantine for 28 days.

As per the medical bullet, 19 people had been admitted in different hospitals across the state and nine of them were discharged.

A team of three members from the Centre had visited Kerala and met with Kerala Health authorities. They discussed various preventive measures.

A thermal screening facility was also opened at the Thiruvananthapuram airport as part of this.

Three people that returned from China had been kept under observation at an isolation ward of the RML Hospital.

They were sent home when the testing revealed a negative result.
