Beware of fake FASTag sale
From February 15, all vehicles should have FASTags to move through the toll plazas. If any vehicles do not have FASTags, the vehicle owners will have to pay twice the fee specified for the vehicle at toll plazas.
As FASTags are made mandatory by the government, several fraudsters are duping people in the name of FASTag sale.
The National Authority of India (NHAI) issued a warning in this context. It warns citizens to beware of fraudsters selling fake FAStag online.
These FASTags appear to be real and it is difficult to identify. But, in reality, they are fake. Hence, vehicle owners should be careful about fake FASTags. They should buy from authorized sale points. Anyone can register a complaint against a fake FASTag sale by calling the helpline number 1033.
Those who want to buy should visit the website: ihmcl.co.in. They can also use MyFastag App to buy FASTags.
The website will have the information of listed banks and authorised point of sale agents. Some of the banks include State Bank of India, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Kotak Bank etc. Users can buy FASTags from them as well. If you want to get FASTag immediately, you can buy it on Amazon. If you want to buy from Airtel Payments Bank, you can buy it directly from the mobile app.
Users can recharge FASTag account through different payment modes like net banking, NEFT, RTGS etc. You can recharge using your debit or credit card. Different online payment apps like Paytm, Google Pay, Airtel Payments Bank and PhonePe support the payment.
As per the sources, around 80 per cent of toll collection is done through FASTags now. The daily total collection crossed ₹100 crores in the country.
