Many hair dyes available in the market contain harmful chemicals like ammonia. Hence, it is better to use natural ingredients to colour your hair. Here are some natural hair dyes. You can make them at your home and use them to colour your hair.

Henna is one of the most widely used natural hair dyes by many people. Make a thick paste using henna powder and water. Keep the mixture for 12 hours and apply it to your hair. You can add amla powder also to the mixture and keep it in an iron container overnight. The mixture turns dark brown. Apply it to your hair. Wait for two to four hours and wash your hair. It turns your hair red.

Beetroot juice can be used to colour your hair naturally. Mix beetroot juice with a carrier oil like coconut oil. Apply the mixture to your hair and wait for an hour and then wash it. Your hair appears in deep red after using it.

You can also use carrot juice. Mix carrot juice with a carrier oil and apply it to your hair. Wait for an hour and rinse it with apple cider vinegar. You can also repeat the process the next day if you feel the colour is light.

Sage helps to cover your grey hair. It slightly darkens your hair. Those who have black or dark brown hair can use it. Boil some water and steep a few dried sage leaves in it for 30 minutes or more. Cool the water and pour it over your hair after washing it. Wait for 15 minutes and wash it.

Coffee and tea can also be used as natural hair dyes. But, they do not alone turn your hair dark colour. Moreover, they are not as effective as the above natural dyes. If they are mixed with henna or any other such ingredients, they work more effectively.

If you want to retain the natural hair colour for a long time, avoid hot showers and limit the usage of hairdryers and other such tools.
