Reiki – A Form of energy healing

Reiki is a form of energy healing. Though it lacks adequate clinical research, many people believe Reiki has many positive outcomes.

The word Reiki is a combination of two Japanese words, rei and ki. The word rei means universal, and ki means life energy.

Reiki practitioners claim that energy stagnation in the body can cause an illness. So if the energy is transferred into the body, the illness will be cured. The Reiki process involves the transfer of universal energy from the practitioner to the recipient.

During the session, the recipient of energy or client sits or lies peacefully and comfortably. The Reiki practitioner places his hands lightly on a specific area for about 5 to 10 minutes. The practitioner feels the warmness in his hands, which indicates the transfer of energy. As soon as the heat or energy has gone completely, the practitioner will remove his hands.

As it is energy healing, it does not associate with any religious practice. Reiki is taught at three levels. The first or initial level involves a light touch. These practitioners can practice on themselves or treat their illnesses. Also, they can heal others through light touch.

The second-level practitioners can heal others through distance healing. The third or last level practitioners are masters. They not only can heal but teach others about the Reiki process.

Reiki has many types of techniques. They are centering, beaming, clearing, infusing etc. Many people reported the process helped them relax and improved their overall well-being.

People believe Reiki will help treat the following health conditions: Heart diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, anxiety, depression, fatigue, autism, chronic pain, cancer etc.

However, one must note that Reiki is not a substitute for medical treatment. Nor can it replace medicines. So, experts warn that people with harmful conditions should not solely depend on this therapy.
