The reality of low carb diets
Low carb diets are very common these days and many weight loss enthusiasts follow it. But it is important to ask the question of how healthy these diets are. Low carb diet followers usually cut down on the intake of carbohydrates to lose weight fast. It is important to remember that losing weight fast can have some side effects. Cutting down on carbs can cause even more craving for them. Low carb diets can cause some serious damage to your body says experts. Some other affects that low carb diets can have are:
Increased Stress
People who cut down on carbs are found to be sad and stressed more. Lack of carbohydrates will make you have a foul mood and you will lose temper easily.
Getting even fatter
Although you would lose calories, you would eventually feel hungrier and end up eating more than you saved. This will result in more fat.
Ketosis
Having less than 50 grams of carbs a day can result in something called ketosis. When your body does not have enough glucose, it will break down you fat. When this happens, ketones get released which is harmful for the body.
Belly bloat
Decreased carbs can cause belly bloat. Belly bloat is generally caused by constipation which occurs due to lack of fiber. Fiber is one of the carbs and if you cut down on carbs you will face belly bloat.
