Hearing loss is one of the chronic disabilities and around 360 million people from around the world suffer from it. Many people are not aware of it and due to negligence, it becomes chronic.

Permanent hearing loss can be treated by wearing hearing aids, cochlear implants and surgery based on the type.

Hearing loss may also be temporary which is caused due to infection, inflammation, excessive earwax, allergies and loud noises. There are many natural remedies for hearing loss that includes the use of herbs and essential oils. These remedies are effective for temporary hearing loss.

The essential oils are mixed with carrier oils like coconut oil, almond oil or jojoba oil and used. They relieve the congestion when they are inhaled as vapour by clearing congestion of the ears.

You have to mix 1 tablespoon of carrier oil to each 1 drop of essential oil.

Here are the natural remedies for hearing loss:

  • Eucalyptus oil has anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic properties to prevent inflammation caused due to seasonal allergies. You can add 3-5 drops of eucalyptus oil in boiling water and inhale the vapour.
  • Lavender oil has anti-allergic properties and can treat hearing loss due to seasonal allergies. Mix 1-2 drops of lavender oil with any carrier oil. Soak a cotton ball in the mixture and keep it in the ears.
  • Helichrysum oil has flavonoids to help treat earwax problems. It can repair damaged nerves and blood vessels of the ears. Add 3-5 drops of oil to the boiling water and inhale the vapour.
  • Tea tree oil helps treat all types of hearing loss problems due to its anti-inflammatory properties. Mix one or two drops of tea tree oil with olive oil and drop the mixture into your ear twice a day.
  • Peppermint oil is very effective in treating ear infections. It soothes allergic reactions. Combine peppermint oil and lavender oil for better results. Mix peppermint oil and coconut oil and gently massage with it on front and behind the ears.
