Health Benefits of jackfruit powder
As several studies found that jackfruit powder or flour decreases blood sugar glycosylated haemoglobin, it is beneficial for diabetic patients. Jackfruit is one of the sweetest fruits. Hence, diabetics should consume raw jackfruit or green jackfruit.
Jackfruit powder can be used as a substitute for maida in baking items like cakes and cookies. As the powder has a neutral taste, it can be added to regular food items like idli, dosa, roti etc.
One or two spoons of jackfruit powder is enough in recipes. However, use it for two to three months to get the health benefits.
Here are a few recipes made with jackfruit flour:
- Jackfruit flour idli: Add 1 to 2 teaspoons of jackfruit flour to the idli batter. Make a thick batter with jackfruit powder and add it to the fermented idli batter before making idli. Use the batter to make idli. The flour enhances the taste.
- Jackfruit flour Roti: Add 1 to 2 teaspoons of jackfruit powder to the wheat flour before kneading it. Then knead the dough as usual and make balls. Then roll the chapathi.
- You can also make upma with jackfruit powder. Add one or two spoons of powder to sooji and prepare upma.
