The Monster Salary Index report was released which lists the average wages in eight major sectors and the factors that affect salaries in India. Find out below if you are being paid right based on the factors.

The salaries given are average wages per hour.

Education

Educational qualification is a major factor which affects salaries.

Secondary education (plus two etc.) – Rs. 86.6

Three years degree (B.Com, BBA, B.Sc, B.A. etc.) – Rs. 169.4

Four/five years degree (B.E., MBBS,B.Arch, B.Pharm, LLB, etc.) – Rs. 274.6

Masters (Arts, Science, Engineering, Commerce, MBA/ Equivalent) – Rs. 288.7

Gender

Men are getting an average of Rs. 259.8 while women are only getting average of Rs. 190.5

Ownership

Foreign owned companies are paying Rs. 409.4, partly foreign owned companies are paying Rs. 246.3, and domestic companies are paying only Rs. 141.1

Size

Larger companies are paying more than smaller companies.

Sectors

Sector-wise the payment is as follows:

IT services – the median wage paid per hour is Rs. 341.8

Financial services – the median wage paid per hour is Rs. 291

Construction and technical services – the median wage paid per hour is Rs. 259.8

Transport, logistics and communication – the median wage paid per hour is Rs. 230.9

Manufacturing – the median wage paid per hour is Rs. 230.9

Healthcare and social work – the median wage paid per hour is Rs. 215.6

Legal and business activities – the median wage paid per hour is Rs. 215.6

Education and Research – the median wage paid per hour is Rs. 186.5
