Facts about One Nation One Card

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the One Nation One Card on Monday.

It is the first National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) in the country.

And helps people pay various types of transport charges including bus charges, toll tax, metro services, parking charges etc.

At the same time, one can withdraw money from the same card throughout the country.


Here are some important facts about the One Nation One Card:

  • The One Nation One Card is a unique card. Only few counties have this type of a card.
  • This card is a one-stop solution for all your cash needs.
  • If you want to get this card, you have to visit your bank and ask to get one card.
  • The One Nation One Card works like debit or credit card. It is enabled by RuPay.
  • This RuPay Contactless Card with NCMC is currently available with 25 banks across the country. State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, and some other banks issue the card.
  • The PayTm Payments Bank also issue this card.
  • The NCMC cards are issued on debit or credit or prepaid card platform from the banks.
  • A single card can be used for making payments across various segments like bus, metro, railways, toll, parking, retail shopping etc.
  • The cardholders can also withdraw money, hence it is termed as One Nation One Card.
  • The One Nation One Card is completely indigenous. So far, the country depends on foreign technology for Automatic Fare Collection Systems (AFC).
  • But, this card has an indigenous AFC system called SWEEKAR.
  • Swachalit Gate (SWAGAT) was developed to construct a common payment eco-system for this card according to the standards of NCMC.
  • If the card is used at an ATM, then the users will get 5 per cent cashback. If it is used at merchant outlets, they are entitled to 10 per cent cashback.
