PM Modi receives the Seoul Peace Prize | Fusion - WeRIndia

Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi visited South Korea for two days. Both Indian PM and South Korea President Moon Jae-in held bilateral talks in key areas including security, defence, trade, and investment.

India and South Korea signed 7 pacts.

On this occasion, Narendra Modi was conferred with the prestigious Seoul Peace Prize for the year 2018.

This is his second visit to South Korea. Modi was facilitated with this peace prize for his contributions to international cooperation and promoting global economic growth.

A short film was screened at the ceremony on the life of Indian Prime Minister and his key achievements.

Modi is the 14th recipient of the peace prize. Modi said the award belongs to entire India.

He expressed his gratitude for conferring with the award in the year of 150^th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

He said that he is accepting this award on behalf of all Indians.

PM donated the award money of $200,000 which is equivalent to ₹1 crore 30 lakh to Namami Gange project intended to clean River Ganga.

PM anticipated that Namami Gange project would be helpful for the better life of millions of people and the sacred river would be saved from pollution.

Modi stated that the award was a recognition of the philosophy of ‘Vasudhaiv Kutumbkam’ (the world is a family). It is a peace message given by Lord Krishna in the battlefield of Mahabharata and Indian culture is spreading that message.

After the award ceremony, PM referred to the Pulwama terror attack and stated that it was time for all nations to join together to fight against such problems.

Both countries signed an MoU to step forward in countering terrorist agendas.
