A Journey towards more Innovative India
Ever since the new government in India, innovation has become an integral part of governance. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stated that there are 800 million people who are under the age of 35 in India. The energy and enthusiasm of these young people can be the biggest strength of India. Modi has stated that he strongly believes that technology and innovation are two things that can transform the government completely.
Modi has brought the attention of people to the massive amount of youth in India and the potential they have. He suggested that the power of these 800 million young people in India cannot be unleashed with just a few tweaks and modifications. It needs a large level of innovative and creative effort.
The prime minister is clearly interested in starting a revolution of innovation among the various ministries and departments in the government of India. One of the main challenges in unlocking the potential of innovation among young children is that many lack basic literacy. It is important to create basic literacy among every child to bring out their capabilities. Even though the official literacy rate of India is 74 per cent as of 2011, it is an unwritten fact that most literates cannot even read simple texts or newspapers.
In the present generation of the digital age, it is important for India to adapt technology and innovation in its governance. At the same time, the change should come from the people which means that more awareness about literacy should be spread.
