Here are some interesting facts about masked Aadhaar cards:
- The masked Aadhaar cards as the name suggests, do not reveal your complete Aadhaar number. They only show the last four digits of your Aadhaar number and the remaining eight digits are masked.
- They also do not have your biometric details.
- Masked Aadhaar card can be used for KYC where your complete Aadhaar number is not mandatory as per the Supreme Court orders.
- For instance, it can be used as an identity proof at airports and on trains for ticket verification.
- They can even be used at tourist places or linking mobile numbers, and any other such places where people are asked to show their identity proofs.
- Since the UIDAI is the issuer of these cards, no agency should not deny the masked Aadhaar cards. If anyone objects it or does not accept the cards, people can raise questions against them.
- The masked Aadhaar card can be obtained through e-Aadhaar which is password protected.
- The Masked Aadhaar card is digitally signed by the competent Authority of UIDAI.
- The Aadhaar Act says that e-Aadhaar is also equally valid like physical Aadhaar card.
- It has only your name, address, photo and virtual ID.
- It is privacy-proof, and cannot be manipulated,
- People can even mask their date of birth if they do not want to share it.
