Beware of AnyDesk App
Now that everything is being done online, risks are also increasing.
Nowadays, a phone can do almost all things. It saves your time by transferring money to other people without going to bank, buy things online without going to a shop, order food without going to a restaurant, and many more.
At the same time, if you are not aware of fraudulent apps and malware that work in the background on your phone, you may lose your money, contacts, and personal information.
Recently, Reserve Bank of India has issued a warning to mobile users on online frauds.
Device control apps like AnyDesk are stealing money from bank accounts of their users if they perform any banking transaction using their app.
AnyDesk app like many other apps prompts for privacy permissions while downloading and captures crucial data of smartphone users.
Here are some important points to know about remote device control app like AnyDesk:
- The fraudsters give a call like a bank representative.
- They will also verify personal details like name, date of birth, mobile number etc. like a normal banker so that the users would trust them completely.
- They will convince the smartphone users to download AnyDesk app.
- Then, they begin to threaten users that their card would be blocked if their instructions are not followed.
- While downloading, the app takes privacy permission like all other apps.
- Then, it starts control of the device without the knowledge of the user.
- The fraudster would then asks for a 9-digit verification code generated on the smartphone of the users.
- These remote device control apps are connected via a remote and that too without the knowledge of the user.
Hence, RBI issued a warning to be careful of these apps as they could steal money from users through UPI and mobile wallets. Users should not share any mobile generated code with any other person.
