Motorbiking is a common form of transportation for many people, and it is commonly known that it is crucial to wear a helmet while on a motorbike for safety precautions.

However, during India’s blisteringly hot summer months, it can be extremely uncomfortable to ride around outside with a helmet pressed against a sweating head.

Kausthub Kaundinya noticed this problem while in engineering college, when he would have to drive on his two-wheeler for over 60 kilometers to go back and forth to his school on the outskirts of Hyderabad.

Kausthub teamed up with his two friends, Sreekanth Kommula and Anand Kumar, and together, they discussed the possibility of air-conditioned helmets.

Kausthub, Sreekanth, and Anand decided to explore the market for a helmet like this.

However, their research showed that there was no product like this in the Indian market. Therefore, the three young engineers decided to create one themselves.

They spoke to several industries, who also recognized a need for a helmet like this. The three of them also found mentors to help them, and they began developing their product in September of 2016.

Seven months later, in March of 2017, their newly-developed air-conditioned helmet was ready to be launched.

The trio’s AC helmet, known as Jarsh (Just Another Rather Safe Helmet) is equipped with a cooling technology, which can keep the head at a cool temperature and prevent the scalp from sweating.

Jarsh is available in two variants, one with a two-hour battery life and the other with an eight-hour battery life.

The one with the two-hour battery life is priced at ₹5,000, while the one with the eight-hour battery life is priced at ₹5,500.

Jarsh has already found several important customers at both Tata Motors and the Indian Navy.

With Jarsh, motorbike riders and helmeted workers alike can enjoy the summer days without a sweltering scalp and a hot head.
