Vishal Kanet and Naman Gupta saw the damage that cigarettes do to the environment.

Everyday many cigarettes are smoked and the butts are discarded in roads etc.

This causes a lot of damage to people nearby who inhale the smoke. It also causes damage to animals as well.

When Vishal and Naman were attending a party at a friend’s place, they saw the huge number of cigarette butts left behind in just one party.

This is was when they decided to take against it.

They wanted to make sure that all cigarette butts are properly recycled.

The duo saw that cigarette butts were found in almost every house. They are discarded along with the garbage normally. The duo started a company at this moment to start recycling cigarette waste.

So in July this year, they launched Code. This company gives a one-stop recycling solution for cigarette waste. The company collects waste from their customers and recycles everything remaining of the cigarette. That is not all, the customers who provide the cigarette waste even get money for providing it.

For every kilogram of cigarette waste provided, one can get ₹700 in return. For every 100 grams, one can earn ₹80. Code gets the waste from people who smoke as well as those who sell cigarettes.

In just the last three months, the company managed to more than 10 kg of cigarette waste. This includes ash, tobacco, paper, and the filter.

Naman says that Code is a zero-waste company. Their aim is to make sure that not a single inch of waste they collect is left un-recycled. The organic part of the cigarette like the paper covering the butt and some amount of tobacco is used to make manure.

The customers who subscribe with Code are provided with VBins. They are for collecting cigarette waste. This waste is collected every 15 days by a garbage collector from Code.
