Amazing temples in India

India is a land of temples. There are many amazing temples that have historical significance. Here are few such temples.

Tirumala Tirupati temple is located in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. The temple is dedicated to Lord Venkateswara or Balaji, an avatar of Lord Vishnu. Millions of devotees visit this temple each year. It is the richest temple in India due to cash offerings of pilgrims. Tirumala temple and the seven hills have great significance in the history of India. Devotees believe that visiting the holy shrine cleanses one from all sin.

Amaranth cave temple is one of the holiest temples in India. It is located in Jammu and Kashmir which is surrounded by snowy mountains throughout the year except for a certain period in summer. It is open for devotees at that time. Thousands of devotees visit the place to visit the ice stalagmite formed inside the cave which is believed as a Shiv Linga.

Brahma temple in Pushkar, Rajasthan is one of the very few temples dedicated to Brahma. It is one of the ancient temples in India. It is said that sage Vishwamitra built this temple while the location was chosen by Brahma. Pilgrims take a holy dip in the Pushkar Sarovar or lake which they believe to be auspicious.


Kedar Nath temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is believed that Pandavas visited this place to get the blessings of the deity. Badrinath temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Both these temples are part of chaar dhaam and are believed to release the devotees from the clutches of the world.

Vaishno Devi temple is dedicated to Goddess Mahalakshmi.  Devotees believe that visiting the temple can solve all their problems.

Another popular temple is Siddhi Vinayaka temple in Mumbai. It is believed that walking barefoot to this temple will help grant all the wishes of devotees.
