Green Bus Project Unveiled in Nagpur, India | Fusion - WeRIndia

The first ethanol-based bus in India has been launched in Nagpur. Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister has stated that a bill will be tabled in the parliament in the next season. This bill will make provision for running vehicles using bio fuels and hybrid electricity.
The union minister has also stated that the country can reduce petrol, diesel and gas imports by a minimum of Rs. 2 lakh crore per year if the country starts using alternative fuels.

On Friday, which was the launch of bus, the Union Minister for Road Transport has stated that the Highways and Shipping Centre is planning to launch 200 to 500 ethanol buses. These buses will be given to Nagpur Municipal Corporation under the ‘Green Bus’ Project.
According to the statistics, India imports petrol, diesel and gas worth of Rs. 6 lakh crore every year. If the country starts using more alternative fuels, the imports could reduce by at least Rs. 2 lakh crore. In order to find alternative fuels, the ethanol bus is one of the first initiatives made.
The four main states which will benefit from this project are: Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. This is because they are the largest producers of ethanol. This alternative fuel buses will also protect environment by producing relatively lesser amount of pollution.
