Woman who spreads love beyond social media
R Sagaya Angelin Shalini, a young woman from Chennai, is redefining the role of social media by using it as a platform to spread love and compassion, rather than seeking fame or followers.
This 22-year-old was influenced by her father. Shalini’s father Robert Bellarmin, dedicated his life to helping others. Shalini learned the power of small acts of kindness early on.
Her father’s work in orphanages and old-age homes inspired her to quietly support those in need, including working part-time at an orphanage while studying civil engineering.
After the sudden death of her father in 2022, Shalini chose to honour his memory through action rather than sorrow.
In August 2023, she launched the Instagram page “Shalini Robert”. She opened the page not to build a personal brand, but to create a supportive community for individuals facing hardship.
Through this platform, Shalini provides more than just financial aid; she offers emotional support, becoming a lifeline for many people.
Shalini’s compassion extends beyond online interactions. She travels across Tamil Nadu, meeting people in person, listening to their struggles, and offering both practical help and emotional strength.
For many, she becomes a mother figure, providing not just temporary assistance but lasting care and support.
Many people from Villupuram shared how Shalini embraced them in their hardships and promised to support their education and well-being for years.
Shalini’s impact spans multiple communities. These include orphans, the elderly, students, the visually impaired, those with disabilities, and the transgender community.
Her goal is to build a home in Chennai where anyone in need can find not just financial help, but the warmth and love of a family.
Through her unwavering dedication and kindness, Shalini is proving that social media can be a force for positive change, offering hope and support to those who need it most.
