73 year old farmer who donated for Chennai floods
Some people show their charity in the times of need and become the real heroes in the hearts of people. Meet this farmer, who showed his charity despite of his financial troubles to Chennai flood victims.
Most of you may have heard of the devastating floods in Chennai. In order to help the people who suffered in the floods, many corporates, companies, politicians and celebrities offered their help to bring back normalcy to the devastated city.
Many common citizens have joined forces to provide financial assistance to Chennai people. With so many people helping Chennai, there came a 73 year old farmer who is nothing short of hero. Laxman Rukmanne Katambale is a farmer from Kadoli village in Belgaum district of Karnataka.
His deeds to help Chennai people even when he himself was in a bad position are nothing short of inspiring. Laxman owns a farmland of three acres area. However, he suffered from crop loss this year because of droughts. Because of the drought, he is burdened with a loan of Rs.25,000.
Despite having personal problems, he did not hold back at donating for the flood victims in Chennai. He went to the Deputy Commissioner’s office and donated Rs.5,000 for the Chennai flood victims.
Laxman has been leading a solitary life since five years ago when he his wife passed away. He doesn’t even have children. He stated that he has very few requirements and that he does not expect much from life. He said that he wants to do as much as he can to help someone in need.
Indeed, Laxman has been donating for society as much as he can. Every year he gives a cash prize of Rs.1,500 to the top ranking SSLC student of Kadoli government high school. He wants to encourage children of his village to study harder. Hardly anyone knew who he is. However, when PM Narendra Modi tweeted about him, he shot to fame.
