15 year old boy sets records
In the 2015 Karnataka Premier League (KPL), a 15 year old boy has set records. Nikin Jose, was called to make his debut on the last day of the league phase and he used this chance to prove himself. On September 17, at the Srikantadatta Narasimha Raja Wadiyar ground, this 15-year-old boy created history in KPL while playing for his home team – Mysuru Warriors.
The warriors, who were already out of competition for a spot within the play-offs, gave a chance to hand a debut to SJ Nikin Jose. He used this chance to make it an unforgettable one by claiming six wickets against Rockstars. This was the last league match of the tournament, on Thursday night.
At fifteen years, Jose became the youngest player to feature in a KPL game. The impressive wicket taking of 6/11 in 3.2 also made history in KPL as the best bowling score. He bowled a formidable fourteen dot balls out of his twenty in the spell. With the help of Jose’s off-spin exploits, the warriors thrashed Rockstars by 75 runs. While the team was batting, he had hit an 18-ball 25 runs.
Jose plays right handed. He hails from Mysuru. During the players’ auction this year, he was bought by the Warriors team for Rs 10,000. Till now he was known for his batting talent, but in the last match he grabbed everyone’s attention with his bowling. He had also captained Karnataka Under-16 side in the Vijay Merchant Trophy earlier this year. He was also selected for the Karnataka Under-19 team for the inter-zonal Vinoo Mankad Trophy One-Day tournament (South Zone) last December.
