Zepto assures grocery delivery in 10 minutes
Due to the lockdown, many petty grocery shops could not sell their products. At the same, people also could not buy at their nearby shops due to the lockdown. Since many small grocery shops do not operate online, people had no option to place an order. That’s why many of them shopped online or bought at supermarkets.
To help small grocery shop owners, Zepto came into the hyperlocal grocery delivery market. Aadit Palicha and Kaivalya Vohra, two teenagers, launched the startup in April this year. Zepto, once called Kiranakart, works on a hub-and-spoke model.
Zepto has a network of dark stores. With the help of these stores, goods are packed and dispatched in less than a minute. The startup assures grocery delivery in 10 minutes. However, the delivery time varies for each customer based on the location. The startup says that customers will be given an estimated delivery time. They will get delivered as promised.
Aadit, one of the founders of Zepto, says that the median delivery time is around nine minutes, and 90 per cent of orders will be delivered within 10 minutes.
Zepto is a Mumbai-based startup. Its dark stores are custom designed for easy navigation and quick delivery after an order has been placed. Packers of the startup use tablets to locate the items at the store and get the best route to pick them up.
Customers can download the app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store and place an order for their groceries.
Aadit says that the startup has been growing since its launch. It has a 200 per cent monthly growth and 78 per cent retention rate. Zepto operates in Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru and aims to extend its operations in Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata and Pune soon.
