Despite living in other countries due to their studies or jobs, many Indians like to get homemade pickles, masalas, sweets and other such things from India. Their parents and other family members ship these items to them.

Satya Ayyagari is also one of them. She is a software engineer and married to a person based out of San Francisco.

Her mother used to send homemade pickles and other required products to her. But, at a certain time, her mother was unwell and could not send her the products she asked for. When she checked at various places in the US, she could not find affordable products.

Then Satya thought to start a platform for NRIs, to ship their products from India to abroad. She discussed the idea with her mother and got her assurance for that. That’s how yourDesiCart emerged into the market.

The startup aims to provide affordable shipping to NRIs. yourDesiCart enables NRIs from around 220 countries to buy their needed products anywhere in India and get them delivered within seven days.

Users need to register with them to use their services. After their registration, they will be provided with a unique locker address or personalized ID at the startup’s warehouse in Hyderabad. This ID can be used to place their orders on the platform. Their warehouse will act as a storage facility for the users. They can place a single shipment request after the completion of multiple orders they need and receive them as a single package.

Some of the most frequently ordered products are masalas from a Delhi shop, pickles from a Hyderabad food store, authentic herbs from Kerala etc. A majority of orders also are placed from Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra etc.

To pick up the products from local stores, yourDesiCart tied up with domestic delivery partners like Delhivery, Dunzo etc.  They are also partnered with DHL, an international courier service, to deliver the items abroad.

The cost of shipment varies with the weight of the package, but the base price is ₹750. However, users can significantly reduce the delivery cost by up to 50 per cent for the delivery of orders through yourDesiCart.

The business is growing month by month. So far, the mother and daughter duo delivered over 2,000 orders to various countries like Australia, Ethiopia, Germany, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, the UAE, and many more.
