Empowering the underprivileged: The journey of Broomees
Saurav Kumar and Vaibhav Agarwal, driven by a passion to make a difference in the lives of the underprivileged, embarked on a journey of social entrepreneurship.
Together, they initiated multiple projects aimed at helping young children access education.
However, despite their efforts, they encountered a daunting challenge – alarmingly high school drop-out rates among these children due to economic pressures on their families.
Many parents opted to have their children work to supplement the family income, largely because the unorganized labour market offered inconsistent opportunities.
Recognizing the pressing need for change in this industry, Saurav and Vaibhav founded Broomees in 2020.
Their mission is to bring organization to this sector, provide a range of services, and empower workers through training.
Broomees offers an array of services, including house help, babysitters, chefs, and elderly and patient care, both on a one-time and daily basis. They go the extra mile by personally training their helpers, ensuring they possess the requisite skills and professionalism.
Furthermore, their team conducts thorough background checks, verifying credentials through Aadhar and police records. Currently, Broomees operates in Delhi, Noida, and Gurugram.
The natural evolution of this endeavour led them to the domestic worker market.
They realized that by equipping these workers with soft and job skills, customers would gladly pay more for their services.
Their conviction in this idea led to the placement of a worker with their third co-founder, Niharika Jain.
Niharika had long recognized the challenge of finding dependable household help for working professionals.
Balancing a demanding job with returning home to an unkempt house and subpar meals was far from ideal.
The trio’s shared vision and aligned values led to extensive research, and within a year, they had served over 1,500 clients in Delhi-NCR.
Achieving a revenue of ₹1 crore marked a pivotal moment, prompting them to seek funding and expand Broomees further.
However, securing investment proved to be a challenge, with many venture capitalists hesitant to back operations-intensive businesses.
It was then that they found a willing partner in 100x.VC. Their meeting in Mumbai with the 100x.VC team provided invaluable insights and momentum, confirming that they had found the right partner.
For first-time founders like them, 100x.VC’s program was a game-changer.
With expertise spanning product development, marketing, investor relations, and more, 100x.VC brought unparalleled value to the table.
In partnership with 100x.VC, Broomees is poised to continue its mission of empowering workers and transforming the lives of both its clients and employees.
In this way, it proves that social entrepreneurship can drive positive change while also being financially sustainable.
